Author's Note: This was another piece I did for my tenth grade Honors English class. However, no one knew it was by me and people saw it in all different perspectives. I intended the piece to summarize my life: how everyone came into my life, whether it was to raise me up or tear me down, and how I didn't stop even in the worst of times because there was something keeping me there. The piece starts of ABAB, but midway through switches to AABB, which was intended because like a road in life, it dips, curves, rises and/or changes unpredictably.
Eyes stop to watch me as I pass
On the road to home
Ears stop to listen to my singing
On the road I roam
Hands stop to wave to me
On this bumpy road
Feet stop skipping to walk with me
On this journey they choose to help me carry a load
Mouths open to shout insults and praises
On the road Jesus raises
Legs are there to aid me when I'm tired
On the weathering road I'm wired
Arms are there to hold me, comfort and love
On the road with hawks, ravens, and doves
Frowns are there to remind me of difficult times
On the road of rhymes
Smiles are there to warm my heart
On the road where we must be smart
Laughs surround me in a bubble of joy
On the road where there might be a boy
While there is sin on this road that is a journey with an end
There is also love, and it's just around every bend
