Author’s note: This poem is intended to remind the reader that although people are capable of forming together, mankind often seeks to solve even the simplest issues with a display of force. It should always be the goal of mankind to remember the psychological trauma it can cause in the young and innocent. By using an AABBAACCAA rhyming scheme, it allows the reader to catch glimpses of the events in a postmodern format.
Little girl, little girl, run no more
All it was is a bit of war
Some senseless fighting over nonsensical things
Never aware of the pain it brings
Above the field does an eagle soar
Watching the masses, the rich and the poor
For man will die for any cause
For the end of the world they'd not give a pause
Her father's body, washed up on the shore
Little girl, little girl, run no more
